“Out beyond ideas of right and wrong, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”

The With Woman Birth School is the seed of an idea I have dreamed of, where women can come together to learn and share wise woman skills and knowledge to support each other on our journey with women and as women.

A place where we can come together, to inspire and educate each other with stories and traditional wisdom, blended with a respect for science, but recognises there is more to birth than that which can be measured or controlled.

Over the coming months we hope to be able to offer learning opportunities and gatherings both in Cornwall and online, with myself, Mandy Bellenger and fellow experienced practitioners.

Me on a peanut ball!

Our Aims

To inspire both birth professionals and women to understand and feel confident in working with the physiology and uniqueness of birth

To develop knowledge and couarge to understand and protect the spiritual nature of birth

To create space to share stories and anecdotal knowledge for the benefit of preserving and disemminating alternative ways of knowing in the field of pregnancy, birth and postnatal care.

To keep birth truths alive for future generations of birthing women and those that care for them

Our Philosphy of Birth

Birth as a rite of passage

A spiritually meaningful event

A woman has the right to make conscious choices for herself and her baby and be respected in those choices

That a spectrum of possibility exists in pregnancy and birth that cannot always be quantified or measured

A recognition of mind, body and spirt as integral to the health and wellbeing of mother and baby

What will we be doing?

We will be creating learning opportunities for midwives, doulas and women via both distance learning and at face to face gatherings here in Cornwall.

We are also creating an online community via Facebook to enable stories to be shared, knowledge to be passed on and support to be gathered to help inspire us to work towards a more holistic vision of birth within this 21st century culture.

We hope you will come and join the conversation.
